The history of our agency.
The DeHayes Group was founded in 1982 as a commercial property and casualty insurance agency with three employees. Organic growth, acquisitions and development of new product lines enabled The DeHayes Group to become the largest locally owned insurance agency in Northeast Indiana. We are pleased to offer commercial property and casualty, group benefits, personal lines, wellness and financial services.
The DeHayes Group represents more than 40 insurance carriers, insures over 1,300 business and 1,800 households and is responsible for the health insurance needs of more than 19,000 lives.
The DeHayes Group has become a Platform Partner with Keystone, the 5th fastest‑growing broker in the U.S., while remaining under local management. We’re proud to have internally perpetuated the agency twice, and today Jeffrey Pikel Sr. and Kevin Burns continue to lead the organization, eager to usher the next generation into ownership.

On March 12th, 2021, we lost one of our managing partners, Dave Relue. Dave was an amazing person who was a friend to all, he made a huge impact on everyone he encountered, and he will be deeply missed. It is very important to us that both his personal and professional legacy continues. “There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, their light remains.”
